No objection to issuance of permit for the proposed construction of a two-story Commerce Bank branch building as shown in supplemental drawings dated 12 March 2008 which indicate removal of glazing corner at north end of facade as a result of DCRA permit review process. No objection to proposed sign scheme composed of one back-lit sign mounted below second floor windows to right of entrance facing on Wisconsin Avenue, and one back-lit sign mounted at cornice level on south facade with letters no taller than 12-inches high reading 'Commerce Bank.' The roof top poles for cellular antennas were reviewed under separate permit application (see case OG 08-093). Working drawings conform to previously approved record drawings under cases OG 05-185 and OG 05-251. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval. Erect a materials sample panel on site, facing south, with the use of lighter color mortar, for review by the Commission prior to ordering materials.

No objection to issuance of permit for new single-light, wood door as shown in supplemental information dated 30 January 2008. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to concept design for proposed two-story rear addition which will require the demolition of existing two-story rear additions, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 22 February 2008 and indicate a 10 1/2-inch setback of connector behind historic main block of the house. Recommend quoins added on the north facade be deleted. Existing historic quoins will be restored to original condition. No objection to relocation of driveway gates or to new wood siding.

Returned without Action. Concept case was superseded by permit application under case OG 08-114.

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for two proposed signs reading 'Open 24 Hours' which are not appropriate to the historic district. Request that existing neon signs on storefront windows be relocated 18-inches behind the glass or removed no later than 30 April 2008. Applicant failed to attend the Board meeting where this project was reviewed.

Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 20 February 2008 indicate that proposed new board fence within existing boundary fence will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board.

No objection to issuance of permit for existing board fence on side yard and rear provided lintel above entry gate is removed and fence is no taller than 7-ft high. Fence must be painted or stained, and supports must face inside the property. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to concept design for proposed alterations to the entrance to the Four Seasons Hotel and for addition of luggage corridor. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for new metal roof and two new dormers at front and one larger dormer at rear as shown drawings received and dated 15 and 26 February 2008.

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed alterations to install aluminum louvers on exterior of storefront. Request that applicant file new submission of detailed drawings with dimensions for existing sign and light fixtures, which were installed without review, with a permit application for review by the Commission no later than the 15 May 2008 deadline for the Old Georgetown Board meeting of 5 June.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to window and door openings at rear of house, and for replacement Marvin wood ultimate double-hung windows and doors with 5/8-inch muntins. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed lettering no taller than 12-inches high applied to the storefront glass reading: 'American Apparel'. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed sign box which is not appropriate as it would cover up architectural detailing of historic storefront, was NOT approved and was deleted from this permit application. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for new wood windows and doors at first floor of historic bank building as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 12 March 2008.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed two-story rear addition, with basement, and for alterations to side wall window openings and replacement door as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 March 2008 which indicate roof top mechanical equipment relocated to east end to limit visibility and window muntins to match detailing of historic front windows which will be repaired. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed new three-car garage to replace existing two-car garage as shown in supplemental drawings dated 22 February and 12 March 2008, which indicate use of 7 1/4-inch high black light fixtures. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed wood garage door, replacement French doors at rear facade, rear deck and replacement lattice to match existing as shown in supplemental information dated 25 February and 6 March 2008. Applicant agreed to repair existing historic double-leaf wood door, brick stairs and metal railing. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed addition of new brick step, and for replacement door which are inappropriate to this historic house, were NOT approved and were deleted from this permit application. Recommend temporary installation of one light fixture for site inspection by the Board, or installation of smaller light fixtures. No objection to issuance of permit for temporary installation of banner from 1 April -11 May 2008.
