Dear Ms. Fore:
At the Mint's request, the five candidate designs for the reverse of the Florida state quarter were circulated to the Commission members via fax prior to the regular meeting on 16 January, so that the Mint could have the Commission's advice before the designs were shown by Governor Bush during a media event scheduled for 15 January.
The members were polled and the results entered into the record during the meeting on 16 January. There were unanimous agreement that the design called "The Everglades" was the best of the group, with the rendering of the fort at Saint Augustine voted second place. Changes recommended included placing both "Florida" and "1845" on one line following the circumference near the top of the Everglades design, and removing the dolphin from the Saint Augustine coin.
Sincerely,
/s/ Harry G. Robinson III, FAIA
