Letter
Dear Mr. Myers:
In its public meeting of 19 February conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a final design submission for a new sculpture honoring Mamie “Peanut” Johnson by local artist Rania Hassan, to be sited in a new plaza at the intersection of First Street, NE and Florida and New York Avenues, NE. Expressing strong support for the proposal, the Commission approved the final design and commended the artist for designing a beautiful sculpture that honors a notable city resident.
The Commission looks forward to the installation of the artwork. As always, the staff is available to assist you with future proposals.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
