Letter

Dear Mr. Falcicchio:

In its public meeting of 15 April conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a concept submission for a new interim pavilion and greenhouse for Parcel 15 on the St. Elizabeths East Campus, located at 1110 Oak Drive, SE. The Commission approved the submission and delegated the review of the final design to the staff.

The Commission members expressed strong support for the concept proposal, which they described as a simple and beautifully realized design for the varied program of public uses. They commended the clarity of its exposed post-and-beam construction, observing that this elegant temporary structure will be appropriately dignified for the community surrounding the historic St. Elizabeths campus, and would be easily adaptable to reinstallation at another site in the future.

Please coordinate the delegated review of the final design with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
