Dear Mr. Fisher:

The staff of the Commission of Fine Arts has reviewed the final design submission materials for the new White House visitor screening facility, proposed to be located on the west side of Sherman Park, along East Executive Avenue, NW. The staff finds that the proposal as documented conforms with the Commission’s comments regarding the approved revised concept design and its direction for action on this submission.

With the authority delegated by the Commission at its meeting of 16 July 2026, we approve the final design for the entrance and exit pavilions associated with the project, as documented in the materials received 14 September 2026, with the provision that any further refinement of the design of the exit pavilion made as part of the historic preservation agreement, to be concluded by 19 November 2026, be forwarded to the CFA staff for review as a revision to the final design.

The Commission looks forward to the completion of this important project. Please consult on the development of the exit pavilion design with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
