No objection to the final design for repairs to the foundation piers of the Great Flight Aviary and construction of an associated equipment shed, per materials received 31 March 2023. Materials indicate concrete encapsulation of the piers is needed to slow their deterioration from ASR (alkali-silica reaction), also known as "concrete cancer." The equipment shed (Life Support System building) would contain equipment associated with modifications to the pools in the Aviary. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.
