Letter
Dear Secretary Djou:
In its public meeting of 21 March conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts approved, based on its prior review of the submission materials, the concept design for artwork by Cory Kamehanaokalā Holt Taum at the new interpretive center additions to the Honolulu Memorial, located within the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. In its approval of the artwork—two pairs of bronze and glass entrance gates that incorporate abstracted natural figures and bold geometric forms derived from the artwork of native Hawaiians—the Commission delegated the review of the final design to the staff.
The Commission looks forward to the completion of this notable addition to the Honolulu Memorial. Please coordinate the delegated final review with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
