Letter
Dear Sec. Djou:
The staff of the Commission of Fine Arts has reviewed the final submission for a new interpretive center at the Honolulu Memorial, located within the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. The staff has determined that the design conforms with the previous recommendations of the Commission and has no objections to the final design for this project.
With the authority delegated by the Commission at its meeting of 15 June 2023, we approve the final plans for the project, as documented in the materials received and dated 6 September 2023, which indicate that the downspouts on the building additions would be narrowed by six inches and that the new planting plan substitutes the previously proposed liriope with native carex and ferns. If there are any additional changes, please contact the staff to determine if additional review will be required. As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
