No objection to the concept design for the placement of a new stone marker commemorating the U.S. Merchant Marines at the World War II West Coast Memorial, per materials received 7 September 2023. Materials indicate that the new canted stone marker would be located in the planting area below the last panel of the U.S. Coast Guard Names of the Missing wall; the proposed stone would match the existing granite in color and finish.

No objection to the final design for modifications to the Kudu and Hornbill Yard (Africa Trail) exhibit, per materials received 6 September 2023. Scope of work includes expansion of the holding yard containment fencing, removal and replacement existing trees, grading to improve site drainage, upgrades to the existing kudu Barn, and a new hornbill holding enclosure and shed. The existing kudu barn and yard are considered non-contributing resources to the National Zoological Park Historic District.
