Letter
Dear Mr. Harper:
In its meeting of 21 April, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the concept design for the new Barry Farm Recreation Center at 1230 Sumner Road, SE.
The Commission members expressed appreciation for the organization of the site as proposed in the concept submission and supported the design of the building. However, noting that the neighborhood redevelopment master plan proposes a linear park terminating at the recreation center building as well as a pedestrian bridge over Suitland Parkway, they suggested further study of the potential connection between the bridge and the linear park across the recreation center site.
The Commission looks forward to review of the final design. As always, the staff is available to assist you with the next submission.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
