Recommendation
Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 28 December 2011 indicate that proposed alterations to historic building for new garage door opening will not be visible from public thoroughfare, except when the gate is open. The Commission notes that during the concept review for the rear addition (OG 06-216) there was a similar proposal for the basement of the historic house and it was not approved as the conversion of existing historic fabric in houses for garages is highly unusual in Georgetown and historically inappropriate, regardless of visibility. In addition, the concomitant amount of paving is not consistent with the site alterations advocated by the Commission.
