Dear Mr. Podesta:
In its meeting of 17 May, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the revised concept design submitted for the renovation of and addition to the single-family dwelling located at 2438 Belmont Road, NW (case number SL 07-071).
The Commission maintained its support for the proposed concept of a rear addition and preferred Option 2A with the metal-clad elevator shaft. However, they continued to request, as previously stated in the letter of 27 April, further study of the rear addition with particular attention to the proportion, scale, and detailing of the shaft and glass wall elements and asked that the applicant return with more complete documentation prior to the final review.
The Commission looks forward to further review of this project. As always, the Commission staff is available should you require further guidance.
