Dear Mr. McLaurin:

In its public meeting of 18 November conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a final design for landscape modifications to the front yard of Decatur House, located on Lafayette Square at 748 Jackson Place, NW (case number SL 22-033), including the installation of a bronze medallion and an interpretive plaque to honor the historic preservation advocacy of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The Commission commended the proposed design as appropriately elegant and modest and approved the submission, expressing appreciation for the poetic impression that will be achieved by installing the bronze medallion so that it appears to float above the planting bed surrounding it.

The Commission looks forward to the completion of this project within the nationally important setting of Lafayette Square. As always, the staff is available to assist you in the development of the design.

Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
