No objection to issuance of permit for the proposed replacement of the basement window with a 2/2 insulated wood window with a 1 1/4 inch true-divided-light muntin, and for the repair of the five 2/2 wood windows on front facade, which are original, as indicated in supplemental information dated 23 January 2013. Recommend use of interior storms. The replacement of the five 2/2 windows on front facade was not approved and was deleted from this permit application. No objection to issuance of permit for three new lights, 1/2-inch-thick PVC lettering applied to trim reading 'i-Thai' at 10-inches tall and 'Restaurant and Sushi Bar' at 2.75-inches tall per drawings dated 13 February 2013, provided two existing metal brackets, flag brackets, and electrical conduit are all removed.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed pergola at rear yard as shown in supplemental drawings dated 7 February 2013 which indicate structure will be no larger than 8 feet by 13 feet and built of Western red cedar. The use of vinyl is not appropriate and was deleted from this permit application. Wood pergola must be painted or stained (solid) to match color of trim on back of house. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit to rebuild 2-3 course (only) brick retaining wall along 30th Street, recommend unpainted brick to match sidewalk brick.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed lowering of exposed rooftop duct to make it not visible from public thoroughfare as shown in supplemental drawings dated 28 January 2013. Proposed alterations to parapet with attachment of perforated metal screen were withdrawn from this permit application at the written request of applicant. Submission materials and a site visit of 23 January indicate that the proposed addition of one solar panel to the previously approved installation will not be visible from a public thoroughfare. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme for Washington Harbour as shown in supplemental drawings dated 29 January and 14 February 2013, which include blade sign reading 'Park' at garage entrance with 'entrance' and 'exit' panels resting on piers at each end of opening, street numbers on monumental sign by vehicular circle, a directory at corner of building, and 'parking' signs at lower plaza. Oversized back-lit letters on windows were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Corner guard on building must have a brushed stainless steel finish. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed revisions to design to include address numbers on the brick pier by entrance gate, IPE fence and gates, and a new security light fixture as shown in supplemental drawings dated 25 January 2013. The Commission regrets that rear chimney was demolished prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed revisions to permit, including skylights, alterations to fenestration and replacement roof, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 13 February 2013 which indicate new metal standing seam roof matching spacing and details of existing terne roof, three equally spaced windows on second floor, and two windows matching smaller size of previously approved window on first floor. New roof must have seams hand-pressed to match original detailing. Removal of the chimney was not approved. Demolished chimney must be re-build using salvaged brick to match height and detailing of original chimney. Erect a material sample panel of both the approved Western red cedar siding and the proposed 5/8 inch thick Hardie Artisan Series lap siding, both painted, on site facing south, for review by the Old Georgetown Board prior to ordering materials. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to concept design to lengthen 1959 addition including frame projection provided portion of east wall of historic ell is maintained and addition is not toothed into existing walls, recommend proposed window lights are proportional to existing historic lights. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission.

Property is owned and managed by the District of Columbia Department of General Services and will be reviewed as a direct submission to the Commission of Fine Arts.
