No objection to general concept design for alterations for rooftop addition of stair enclosure and roof deck PROVIDED roof deck is lowered to height of parapet. Provide mock ups of fascia of deck for review by the Commission. No objection to the concept design for sign scheme composed of back-lit pin-mounted letters reading 'noodles and company' and fabric awnings within the masonry openings of the show windows and doors as shown in supplemental drawings dated 23 April 2012. Proposed mechanical equipment to be located where it will not be visible from public thoroughfare. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of the permit for the rear addition at the second floor and alterations to the rear ell as shown in supplemental drawings dated 22 May 2012 which indicate Weather Shield 6/6 double-hung all-wood insulated windows and application of stucco finish, provided simulated-divided-lite muntins with spacer bars are no wider than 7/8 inch wide, and half screens are used. Casement windows and wood siding were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for pin-mounted non-illuminated 12"-tall aluminum letters reading 'Grill Kabob' per supplemental drawings dated 3 May 2012. Existing illuminated Open and Kabob signs above door are not approved.

Recommend AGAINST concept design for new awnings, green screen on clock tower and planter boxes as proposed. No objection to the concept of the green screen on stair towers within courtyard only, to recovering of existing awnings with red fabric, and to additional awnings within courtyard at first residential level only. Recommend removal of existing planters and barriers at base of building on M Street. File new submission of detailed and dimensioned drawings with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to general concept design for rear addition and alterations provided eave line of addition is lowered to consistent height, windows are reconfigured, and fence on side yard is kept at 7-ft height of existing gate. Window wells on front of house, which were not approved during previous concept review, were deleted from this concept design as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 April 2012. File new submission of construction drawings, including dimensions, details and cut-sheets, with permit application for a revised design for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement windows with all-wood double-glazed single-hung 6/6 windows with simulated-divided-lite 5/8 inch muntins to match existing PROVIDED jamb liner for upper sash is hidden under wood cover and front door is replaced at the same time with six panel wood door as shown in supplemental information dated 16 May 2012. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of rear balcony and metal railing with new one to match as shown in supplemental drawings dated 26 April 2012 PROVIDED new balcony meets code requirements. Existing balcony was previously approved in 1970. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for new fabric on existing awning frame at main entrance, with valance signage including 'Long & Foster,' as well as a new fabric awning with 'Invisa' on valance at lower level door per drawings dated 13 April 2012.

No objection to issuance of permit for new 4-panel painted wood front door in existing opening.

No objection to concept design for proposed 2-story with basement rear addition, for alterations to roof and rear ell, and for razing of wood structure garage off rear alley and reconstruction with new garage structure as shown in supplemental drawings dated 23 April 2012. Rooftop mechanical equipment to be screened so it will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Windows will be repaired. File new submission of working drawings, including dimensions, details and cut-sheets, with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to storefront and for sign scheme for 'Nike' composed of a back-lit logo on M St and a smaller non-illuminated logo on Thomas Jefferson St as shown in supplemental drawings dated 11 May 2012 which indicate elimination of obstructions to show windows, clear glass on alley windows, and removal of up-light fixtures on second floor except for two fixtures turned down at the location of the new entrance. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to general concept design for proposed alterations to storefront and sign scheme for 'Gant' as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 April 2012. Recommend taller 18-inch-high base to storefront glazing, wider brick piers on ends, careful detailing of paneling and a lighter color scheme. File new submission of construction drawings, including details, dimensions and shop drawings for sign, with permit application for review by the Commission.

The Commission regrets that the sign and awning were installed prior to review or permit. Recommend AGAINST the issuance of the permit for existing awning and sign for 'P Street Pictures on O' as completed which are not appropriate to the character of the building and the historic district. File a new submission of detailed and dimensioned drawings for a sign scheme or a flat wall-mounted sign with permit application no later than the 15 November 2012 deadline for review by the Old Georgetown Board at its 6 December 2012 meeting.

No objection to concept design for proposed canopy and sign scheme for 'Malmaison' including lettering by entrance door and back-lit 6-inch high lettering arranged vertically facing on 34th Street as shown in supplemental drawings dated 3 May 2012. File new submission of shop drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to general concept design for alterations to mall building per drawings dated 19 April 2012 provided existing metal panel system is not emulated, and windows on canal are set back from wall plane. On the West Elevation, Alternate 1 is recommended with banners rather than awnings and clear glass in the storefront systems. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for enlarged front entrance, new chimney fans, and enlarged garage per drawings dated 25 April 2012. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to issuance of permit for new wood 2/2 double insulated window sashes to fit existing wood frames and molding per drawings dated 24 April 2012.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed repair and reconstruction of the foundation wall to bring it back to its original condition. No objection to use of German siding to match adjacent building as shown in supplemental drawings dated 26 April 2012 which indicate the removal of the door surround and broken pediment. Recommend window casing and door surround match detailing of those on adjacent house at 3617 O St., NW. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to concept design for 1-story rear addition, new window openings at west elevation, and altering brick garden wall per drawings dated 19 April 2012. File separate submission of detailed and dimensioned drawings with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to general concept design for proposed alterations, including removal of existing greenhouse and new addition at third floor level, additions at lower level of tower element, and extension of terrace. Recommend against concept of partial glass enclosure of rear porch at first floor level, which is not appropriate to the character of the house. Recommend relocation of rooftop mechanical equipment now visible from N St. to the roof of the addition screened by parapet. File new submission of working drawings, including dimensions and details, with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to general concept design of auxiliary structure as shown in drawings dated 20 April 2012 provided roof is metal and overall height is reduced. File new submission of detailed and dimensioned drawings for a revised design with permit application for review by the Commission.

No objection to issuance of permit for wood multi-light picture window with flanking casements and simulated divide lights with 7/8-inch muntins.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme composed of back-lit pin-mounted lettering reading 'Suitsupply' on sign panel mounted through mortar joint above lintel and for logo attached to the brick pier by entry door as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 April 2012. Awnings on M Street will be relocated to within the masonry opening as previously approved. Awnings on 29th Street will be removed. All holes on lintels caused by mounting of awnings must be fixed as part of the scope of work on this permit. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

Returned without Action. Submission materials of supplemental drawings dated 8 May 2012 and inspection of mock-up during site visit of 2 May 2012 indicate that proposed rooftop mechanical equipment #1 and unit on rear yard will not be visible from public thoroughfare. Second HVAC unit on the roof, which will be visible, was deleted from this permit application. Refer to the Historic Preservation Review Board. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the design made during DCRA Technical Review that would make the alterations and/or equipment visible must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

Returned without Action. Submission materials and a site visit on 18 January 2012 in conjunction with OG 12-113 and OG 12-140 indicate that the proposed rear addition at the second floor and the partial infill of dog leg will not be visible from a public thoroughfare.
