The Commission regrets that signs and banners were installed without permits. Existing 'Leopold's cafe' banner at 3318 M Street must be removed no later than 28 February 2007 and replaced with previously approved banner (OG 03-028). Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for three existing projecting banners featuring 'Relish' at 3312 Cady's Alley. No objection to issuance of permit(s) for: existing banner 'Design Within Reach' at 3307 Cady's Alley; existing projecting banner 'Leopold's cafe' at 3315 Cady's Alley; existing wall-mounted sign 'Collectibles Gallery' at 3320 Cady's Alley; existing projecting aluminum sign 'Illuminations' at 3323 Cady's Alley; and existing sign comprised of pin-mounted letters 'Bulthaup' at 3324 Cady's Alley as shown in supplemental drawings received and dated 23 October 2006. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

No objection to issuance of permit for existing replacement insulated windows and doors at first floor PROVIDED existing oversized 'Wachovia' sign on M Street facade, which was NOT approved, is removed. See previous recommendation on signage (OG 04-117). File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, for sign scheme of one sign no larger than 12-inches high on each facade, with separate permit application for review by the Commission when ready. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.
