Presidential One Dollar Coins

In 2005, Congress passed the Presidential One Dollar Coin Act, continuing the tradition of representing themes of the American presidency on circulating coins. The coin obverses in this series feature new portraits of the presidents from George Washington to Gerald Ford, typically in a more contemporary three-quarter view instead of the classical profile composition; the consistent reverse design is the Statue of Liberty. Examples include James Madison (2008), Franklin Pierce (2010), and Woodrow Wilson (2013). The CFA most recently reviewed a coin in this series in March 2015.
