Recommendation

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed replacement double-glazed windows with simulated divided light muntins on front facade and for proposed clad windows at rear, which are not appropriate to the character of the historic building or the district. Repair existing single-glazed wood windows on front facade, use interior storms. File new submission at DCRA of detailed and dimensioned drawings, including architectural details and cut-sheets for wood windows, with permit application for replacement of windows at rear for review by the Commission. Note that The L'Enfant Trust holds an easement on this property.
