Dear Mr. Ryder:
In its public meeting of 18 June conducted by videoconference, with the advice of its subcommittee on submissions from the United States Mint, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed alternative obverse and reverse designs for the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Commemorative Silver Dollar Coin and provided the following recommendations.
For the obverse, the Commission recommended alternative #4B, consistent with the preference of the family and the liaison organization, and citing #4B as the best of the several alternatives featuring this portrait due to the larger size of the portrait within the composition. For the reverse, the Commission recommended alternative #1A as the best overall composition, consistent with the preference of the family and the liaison organization.
