No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme for "Roosters" including two woven fabric awnings mounted within the masonry opening of the tall show windows at the rear, a sign composed of individually pin-mounted back-lit letters no taller than 12 inches high with logo at rear, and back-lit sign of letters no taller than 12 inches high pin-mounted onto metal backer panel at pedestrian portal on Wisconsin Avenue as shown in supplemental drawings dated 30 May 2013 which indicate sign at portal will align with 8-feet wide opening and power source hidden from view within the structure. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.

No objection to concept design for alterations to southeast corner of 3222 M Street building complex per supplemental drawings dated 28 May 2013. Recommend no window at first floor of east wall and rectilinear door opening above, straight stair to correspond with stone wall heights, 12-inch signs, equal-size sliding windows as indicated, and removal of existing exposed electric conduits from facade. File new submission at DCRA of construction drawings, including architectural details, dimensions, sign details and cut-sheets for replacement windows with permit application for review by the Commission.

The Commission regrets that signs and awnings were installed prior to review. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed sign scheme composed of back-lit letters reading "JoS A. Bank", awnings within masonry openings with lettering on valance over center show window only, one plaque, and vinyl letters applied to glass as shown in supplemental drawings dated 11 June 2013 which indicate letters no taller than 16 inches high pin-mounted on wall above entry doors. Attachment must be made through mortar joints only. The internally-illuminated letters and the blade sign are not compatible to the character of the historic district, were not approved and must be removed no later than 31 October 2013.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations to basement stairs, removal of decorative metal on windows on front facade, all-wood replacement windows at rear only, alterations to rear, wood trellis and site work on rear yard, solar panels and rooftop mechanical equipment located where they will not be visible from public thoroughfare, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 12 June 2013 which indicate stairs to basement relocated by only one riser. Replacement of front windows, outdoor fireplace at rear and aluminum-clad replacement windows were not approved and were deleted from this permit application. Facade will have paint removed, and will be repainted if condition of brick is not even. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the approved design made during DCRA Technical Review must be resubmitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of the permit.
