Lincoln Memorial

The monumental seated statue of Abraham Lincoln by Daniel Chester French, once chairman of the CFA, sits within the main chamber of the Lincoln Memorial. Architect Henry Bacon designed the Doric-style temple to honor President Lincoln at a controversial site at the west end of the National Mall—an area reclaimed from tidal mud flats. The CFA most recently reviewed perimeter security measures for the memorial in March 2010.
