Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for proposed demolition of front porch and replacement with proposed smaller porch. The porch is an integral feature of the original design of this house, part of a group of buildings including the adjacent rowhouses on 30th Street and two rowhouses on Cambridge Place, NW, all built in 1909. The porch is a contributing element to the historic character of the building, the row, and the Old Georgetown Historic District. Recommend reconstruction of porch to its original condition, replacing non-historic elements, repairing historic elements, and replicating details as required. See previous recommendation against the concept design for the removal of the porch reviewed as case OG 10-158 (HPA 10-286).

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed window openings and replacement windows on first floor with single-hung single-glazed wood windows with 7/8" muntins, to match detail, profile and configuration of existing windows on second floor, and for replacement wood shutters, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 23 August and 15 September 2010 which indicate relocation of entrance door to align with second floor window on 35th Street facade. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.
